I agree 100% about Presumed Innocent. I do remember how the movie ended but the series still has me watching. Probably the best work I've ever seen from Jake Gyllenhaal.
It's always a little depressing to hear folks who reach that pinnacle of working for the Big Two nearly always coming back sour -- but the good side is that frustration turns into some great work in the creator-owned space!
My grapes aren't that sour, more like semi-sweet. I had a good run on some great projects and made a lot of awesome, brilliant friends! But you're right that all the best comics are coming from the indie/creator-owned arena these days.
